For only the second time this season North Elmham first team was at home this weekend hosting Northwold in this NCL 2W fixture, hoping to improve on the run of near misses they have endured so far. It was ominous that Northwold won the toss and choose to bowl first in a match reduced to 40 overs as rain was forecast for later,. Adrian Seymour struck early on when he had Olly Hall caught behind for a meager 7. Elmham’s other opener of the day, Adam Hunt (78), then took control of the innings as he found partners in Iain Sinclair (21), Steve Shoesmith (21) and Marcus Webb (24) as North Elmham progressed the pace of the innings well to finish on a respectable 170-7 off their 40 overs.
North Elmham started brightly with the ball, picking up both of the Northwold
openers with two early wickets. This brought Adrian Seymour (94*) to the wicket. He proceeded to dominate both the scoring and the strike as wickets fell regularly around him, including 2-29 for Ballman, but Seymour just did not give any chances guideing Northwold home with 3 wickets to spare and just 3 balls left of the innings!
A close well fought contest that was enjoyed by both sides, although it has to be said that Northwold probably enjoyed it more, especially as it came after Elmham had lost with just 4 ball to go a week earlier. Next week away at Garboldisham B, start 13:30.
